Photo rejuvenation – the latest and most effective
choice for anti ageing
We use a system called IPL (intense pulse
light therapy) which is a non-invasive method of treating
a variety of benign skin
imperfections that also increases collagen and elastin production
to help renew ageing skin increasing the firmness and elasticity
and smoothing out fine lines and . This treatment is available
as an anti ageing treatment for the face, neck, décolleté and
hands.
Imagine improving the texture, colour and appearance of your
skin without surgery or injections! Photo rejuvenation is
also excellent in the treatment of acne roseacea, acne vulgaris,
skin pigmentation and broken capillaries. Damage to the skin
from sun exposure can also be significantly and safely improved
by using photo rejuvenation.
Your questions answered...
How many treatments will I need?
A course of 6 treatments is required at which point your
laser specialist will re-assess your skin to see if further
treatments
will be needed. Once your course has finished you will
require a maintenance treatment every 1-3 months.
It is also recommended that the course is repeated after
2 years to maintain the results.
How long will the treatment
take?
Each treatment will take 45 minutes and should be done
every 10 days to 2 weeks depending on the age of the client
and
level of skin damage.
How does it work?
Photo rejuvenation uses pulses of visible light over many
wave lengths that deliver energy to all layers of the
skin. It works
on the principle that light is absorbed by the chromeophones
melanin and haemoglobin and water. Luminous radiation
from the intense pulse light then destroys the melanin
and haemoglobin
causing it to disperse and disappear through the natural
exfoliation process causing a gradual lightening of pigmentation
and broken
capillaries. It increases firmness and elasticity by
warning the basal layer (the dermis) thus otimulating fibroblast
cells to produce collagen and elastin fibres.
Photo rejuvenation also increases blood circulation an
oxygenation thus hydrating the skins surface plumping
out fine lines
and providing essential nutritional elements creating
a more healthy
glowing skin.
The results vary from person to person and a difference
should start to be seen after a full renewal process
(1 month).
The treatment will work on over 90% of the population.
Will
I need a consultation?
All clients must have an in depth consultation prior
to their patch test and the client consultation/record
card
must be
filled out accurately and in full. Your laser operator
must be fully informed about all prescription medication
and non
prescription that you may be taking as certain medications
can make the skin photo-sensitive. Once the consultation
is completed then we can continue to do a patch test
if there are no contra-indications.
Will I need to follow any aftercare after the treatment?
For 24hrs after the treatment:
- no heat treatments such as sauna or steam room
- no Jacuzzis or swimming
- no scented lotions or irritating products on the area treated
- no washing up, ironing or cooking (this is very important
to prevent any steam touching the skin as blistering
could occur)
- when taking a bath or shower tepid water must be used
Immediately after the treatment the skin can be a little
more sensitive and it is recommended that a product called ‘soothe’ (a
cooling healing gel) that is supplied by Bio Medical
is purchased and used on the skin twice a day for a least
7 days following
your treatment depending on the sensitivity of your
skin.
It is very important for anyone having photo-rejuvenation
to avoid sun exposure to the area being treated
for 1 month prior
to a treatment and during the course of treatments
and for 1 month after the course of treatments
has finished.
This
includes sun beds and self tanners. A total sun
block with an SPF minimum
of at least 30 must be worn at all times. |
